Dreamteam is about favourites, and Andrew Mackie has been one of the Gurus for the last couple of seasons.  Is it because he has a Timmy Rogers haircut?  Maybe.  Is it because he is listed as a defender but doesn’t play like one.  Yeah – that’s it.

Mackie is a consistent performer.

2008 – 91

When he got dropped last year, the Guru nearly cried.  It ruined my team balance at an important time of the year.  With a change of coaching structure, he might be assured more game time, but my heart has already been broken.

Jack Grimes is the reason I felt confident enough to trade out Brad Green – he won’t be affected by the bye, and will be a steady hand for the Guru’s defence.

The Demons have been raving about this preseason, and I think after this season he will be in my top 100 ranked players.  Consider him to be my Kieran Jack of defence.

With the amount of money you outlay for a defender like Grimes he has to be a keeper for the season.  In his case, he isn’t picked for his dollar value.  He is picked to be playing in defence come round 24 this year.  If I trade him, it will only be due to injury.  And I wouldn’t expect to make any profit from that situation.

So Jack “Frank” Grimes – have a safe, consistent season averaging 90+.  This will keep the Guru happy.
